Spring Lake is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hernando County, Florida, United States. The population was 327 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Spring Lake is located at (28.488630, -82.308437)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.5 square miles (9.1 km2), of which, 3.4 square miles (8.8 km2) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) of it (3.16%) is water.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 327 people, 126 households, and 96 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 96.9 people per square mile (37.5/km²). There were 130 housing units at an average density of 38.5/sq mi (14.9/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.17% White, 0.31% Native American, 0.92% Asian, and 0.61% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.50% of the population.

There were 126 households out of which 33.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.0% were married couples living together, 7.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.8% were non-families. 19.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 2.97.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 23.2% under the age of 18, 3.7% from 18 to 24, 29.1% from 25 to 44, 31.8% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 85.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.2 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $41,250, and the median income for a family was $58,516. Males had a median income of $36,964 versus $22,143 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $18,129. None of the families and 3.4% of the population were living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 27.3% of those over 64.
